About the Work
The text on her phone reads, "It's my yard," prompting the question of who is invading whom. Inspired by the tragic death of P-22, the solitary mountain lion from Griffith Park in Los Angeles, the artist reflects on how humans encroach upon open spaces while being appalled when wildlife ventures into what we consider our own. The response, "In my POV, they were here first," challenges the notion of ownership. In the piece, a coyote, a bee, and a dragonfly symbolize the wildlife, while the woman and a hovering drone represent human intrusion.
